Hello DNS Fam,
This is my first elaborate post wherein I want to share the key learning about basic project management skills (Limited) which I acquired while prepping for an interview and whilst doing that I also used my creative abilities to weave the above new skills with the digital marketing portfolio/Website project that I recently started as DigitalNomadSelva-DNS (WIP).
Before proceeding further, I want to bring it your attention that this is only a hypothesis & just my own personal perspective/visualization of how I envisioned this.
With a deep breath! Here it goes,
While trying to find an effective method to outline my digital marketing experience in a compelling manner and in my own unconventional way, I finally fixated on following the proven STAR model which is the Situation, Task, Action & Result.
Below is one of an example Project which I have used to outline the work that I did during my tenure at Infosys (You can view such details & more digital marketing projects here at @ DigitalNomadSelva - DNS Website->Portfolio section).

Now post finishing the above stated Star Model for the particular project, I was confused as to how to make this more exciting and also have my personal touch. So, I considered & designed the whole project keeping in mind of the latest agile methodologies & including the famous scrum framework & started visualizing this in the below following way.
I looked at it as an upside-down chart where I imagined axis are as follows (Arrowed Line in Blue),
Consider this X- axis as the different life cycles of the project.
Now Visualize the Y-axis as the total energy & time spent (can also be taken as detailed WBS - WorkBreakdownStructure)
Post this, I also wanted to Implement few simple project management methodologies into the below exercise,
For this I Took 3 horizontal axis,
The First horizontal axis can be considered as an average mean of the length of Situation, Task & Action. (Line in Orange)
The Second horizontal axis can be considered as the measure of average (50% of Actions) that I am expecting as a result. Consider this a simple formula that I am considering like how 30% contingency is considered as an Industry level without many complications. (Line in Black)
The Third horizontal axis can be considered as simply the measure of amount of result achieved at the end. (Dotted Line in Green)
Now Imagine anything above the 3rd horizontal axis, which is the result achieved at the end, can be considered as Scope Creek.
Now Imagine anything below the 3rd horizontal axis, which is the result achieved at the end, can be considered as Gold Plating.
I can try and come with more points & implement additional project management skills into this exercise, provided if I receive ample response.
Now one can certainly argue this and have their own opinion! But my whole idea was to look at the exercise from a different perspective and derive a unique sense & meaning for my special project.
Does the above ring a bell? If yes, then please feel free to share your thoughts it in the comments section on the LinkedIn post/Article. Any constructive feedback is welcome.
Kind Regards,
Selva Shekhar
